I hope to have it ready for your reading pleasure by tomorrow.
The second part of the Big Reveal.
( This time from Ariane's point of view... )
And that last part has been often singled out as a favorite scene by my beta-readers; it's certainly one of mine, and I spent quite some time on it to make sure it said what I wanted it to -- much longer than I normally spend on individual scenes.
Fay McKay was a lounge singer in Vegas Back in the Day, and this version of the 12 Days of Christmas is SO awful and yet still makes me giggle. Especially how she says, “Cutty Saaahk.”
That said, if you drink, don’t drive this holiday season. Seriously. Surrender your keys, or drink at home when you absolutely don’t have to go anywhere, but do not, for the love of mullets and man titty, drink and get behind the wheel. I and every other driver on the roads this weekend thank you.
I didn't actually go to bed until past midnight last night so I should probably have posted this earlier, heh. In any case, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to anyone who might still be reading this. I hope the end of 2009 finds you all well.

Sent in by Rachel, it’s the “Christmas Can-Can,” performed by acapella group Straight No Chaser.
It’s Christmas Day! Hope you get everything you want (and that the Christmas carols on the radio stop…soon….).
I am a notoriously difficult person to Christmas shop for, which is why for a number of years now my stated policy for people wanting to get me something is to tell them not to bother. Nevertheless, Krissy asked this year if there was anything I wanted for Christmas. I handed her a small list. On the list were the following Christmas wishes:
1. A pony
2. LASERS
3. Gum
4. Monica Bellucci
Fast forward to Christmas Eve, when we’re opening presents because all the family is there and, you know, why wait. Under the tree is a box for me. And in the box is the following:

And thus, I can truly say that I indeed got everything I wanted for Christmas. Also, my wife is awesome.
Merry Christmas, and I hope you get everything you want out of the day as well.

Luke 2:1-14, King James Version, 1611
And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed. (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.
And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem (because he was of the house and lineage of David), to be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, she being great with child.
And so it was that while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered; and she brought forth her first-born son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes; and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them, and they were sore afraid.
And the angel said unto them, Fear not; for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day, in the city of David, a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you: That ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, and lying in a manger.
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

Vulgate: Luke 2:1-14

"Ära i höjden åt Gud
(Translation anno 1917)

4 En Jozef ging ook op van Galilea, uit de stad Nazareth, naar Judea, tot de stad Davids, die Bethlehem genaamd wordt, (omdat hij uit het huis en geslacht van David was);
10 En de engel zeide tot hen: Vreest niet, want, ziet, ik verkondig u grote blijdschap, die al den volke wezen zal;

From Sisuile, Isaiah 9:6:

Debcha is big on Wayne Coyne's Twelve reasons why Christmas matters.
And from me, a Christmas carol for which we have got to find music before next yuletide: Ipse Mocat Me. Also An Aungell fro Hevn Gan Lyth, which as far as I know is the only Christmas carol that depicts God as a knitter. (Note: mind the typo in the third line of first stanza, which says know but should be knot.)

"In other words, life is good. And next year is going to be even better. So quit your bitching and be happy. Be glad you're alive. Hug someone. Hell, kiss someone. As my ex-girlfriend Joan Baez said, If you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go get some mango eggnog and fire up the bong. Back at you soon. Peace on earth. Namaste. Much love."
